The Cyprus University of Technology is a modern, pioneering University able to offer education and high-level research in leading branches of science and technology which have high impact on the economic, technical, and scientific sectors. With its orientation towards applied research, the University aspires to establish for itself a role in support of the state and society in their efforts to confront problems, which cover all areas of science, communication and technology. The courses of Cyprus University of Technology, to a large extent complement scientific areas, which are not currently covered at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels by the University of Cyprus or any other institution of higher education in the country. The Cyprus University of Technology was founded by law on December 2003 and welcomed its first students on September 2007.

 

LEMESOS, CYPRUS

Lemesos or Limassol is the second-largest city on Cyprus, with a population of 228,000 (2008), the largest city in geographical size, and the biggest municipality on the island.

The city is located on Akrotiri Bay, on the island’s southern coast and it is the capital of Limassol District. Limassol is the biggest port in the Mediterranean transit trade. It has also become one of the most important tourism, trade and service-providing centres in the area. Limassol is renowned for its long cultural tradition, and is home to the Cyprus University of Technology. A wide spectrum of activities and a number of museums, archaeological sites, small galleries and experimental art spaces are available to the interested visitor. Consequently, Limassol attracts a wide range of tourists mostly during an extended summer season to be accommodated in a variety of hotels and apartments.

 

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR TRAVELERS

Please note that holders of a valid Schengen Visa who have already traveled within the Schengen Zone, may travel to Cyprus without an additional Cypriot Visa. Residents of non-EU countries who hold valid Schengen visas and who have already entered Schengen countries, as per the Schengen regulations, may now travel to Cyprus directly from that Schengen member country without applying for a National Cypriot visa and stay in the Republic of Cyprus for the duration of their Schengen visa.

 

Where Visas are being issued:

Visas will be issued by all the Diplomatic Missions (Embassies and General Consulates) of the Republic of Cyprus, and by all the Honorary Consulates of the Republic of Cyprus abroad in their respective countries. Additionally visas can also be issued by the British High Commissions/Embassies in the following countries: ARGENTINE REPUBLIC, BAHREIN, HONG KONG, JAPAN, JORDAN, KAZAKHSTAN, KUWAIT, OMAN, SWITZERLAND, SUDAN, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES (ABU DHABI, DUBAI), UZBEKISTAN.

Airport Taxis

You may get an airport taxi upon arrival to the airport. Service is quite good; however, prices may vary depending on the time of arrival.

Car rentals

Participants may opt to hire a car during their stay, and thus use it for their airport transfers.

Airport Bus Transportation

You may use the public bus service (Limassol Express) at only 10 Euro per person (one way including VAT and luggage). This bus will transport you from Larnaca airport to Limassol and back, by daily shuttle buses at specified times including weekends and holidays. For detailed information please click here.

 

GENERAL INFO
  • English is the second language and is widely spoken. A greater Knowledge of French and German is increasingly noticeable.
  • The currency of the Republic is Euro.
  • Bank WORKING HOURS: Monday -Thursday: 08:00–14:30 & Friday: 08:00–14:00. Certain banks in tourist areas may be open during the afternoon.
  • The voltage on the island is 240 Socket outlets are of flat 3 pin-type.
  • All types of medication are available in well stocked pharmacies all over Cyprus.
  • Telephone: Cyprus automatic telephone dialing system reaches 206 countries. Tele-cards can be purchased from Post Offices, kiosks and souvenir shops.
  • There are two international airports in Cyprus, at Larnaca and Pafos.
  • The two main seaports are in Lemesos and Larnaca.
  • Around 30 airlines connect Cyprus directly with most European and Middle-East countries, which provide on-going services to anywhere in the world.
